Vehicle Overview

In the 1950's automakers constantly changed their vehicle designs to stay one step ahead of their competition. The late 50's Plymouth Belvedere lineup took the world by storm with a never-before-seen design that sent shock waves through the industry.  Even Plymouth knew they had made something special with their slogan in 1957 that "In one flaming moment Plymouth leaps three full years ahead - the only car that dares to break the time barrier!  The car you might have expected in 1960 is at your dealers today!".  Trumpeted by the car maker as "The Forward Look of Motion" the newly designed Belvedere was an instant hit.  Coveted by collectors today this full-size hardtop coupe has a strong, loyal following, even further enhanced by the model's starring role in the hit 1983 film "Christine".  This brilliant example is in outstanding condition and sports the famous Toreador Red with Iceberg White hardtop finish.  The exterior chrome and brightwork is gleaming as well as the side trim that extends down the entire side of the over 17-foot automobile.  Under the hood is a period-correct 318 cubic-inch V8 engine that has been upgraded with dual four-barrel carburetors emulating the "Golden Commando" option of 1958.  Power is transferred to the pavement via the optional Torque-Flite 3-Speed automatic transmission with its unique dashboard-mounted "push button" controls.  There was more to the new Plymouth than just style.  Chrysler's introduced its new independent front suspension that included a longitudinal torsion bar setup with ball-joint steering - a first for a major American manufacturer.  This "Christine" tribute rides on factory steel wheels with full covers on Coker Classic white-wall tires and four-wheel drum brakes.  Inside the exceptional cabin are black and white door panels and white vinyl and beige tweed upholstery.  In fantastic physical and mechanical condition this "Christine" look-a-like Plymouth is ready to be enjoyed and will most certainly be the star of any car show you bring "her" to!
